Dental Crowns

WHAT ARE DENTAL CROWNS?

Individual teeth that have been subjected to extensive damage or decay can generally be restored using a dental crown. Dr. Anita Jhangiani is pleased to provide crown restorations to our patients to help cover and support the visible part of a single tooth while also recovering its normal size and shape. Crowns are made to mimic existing teeth and are commonly performed to treat fractured teeth, decay, misshapen teeth, or other types of structural damage. These restorations might also be merged into an appliance to function as a dental bridge or attached to dental implants to replace a tooth that has been lost. Set up an appointment with our dental team at Cedar House Family Dentistry to find out if a custom crown could elevate your oral health and smile.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

At Cedar House Family Dentistry, we are aware of the self-consciousness that can arise and the lack of function of lost or damaged teeth. We offer dental crowns as a choice for our patients who are looking to gain many benefits after the procedure, including:

  • Increased natural and ease of talking, eating, and expression
  • Easy, individualized procedure that requires minimal down time
  • Renewed function and appearance of teeth and mouth
  • Long-lasting outcomes that can keep patients satisfied for years to come

THE DENTAL CROWN PROCEDURE

The crown procedure for our patients typically takes place over two stages. During your initial appointment, your dentist will anesthetize your damaged tooth and may incorporate sedation dentistry solutions to boost your comfort level if desired. After the damaged portion is removed, an digital scanned impression of the treated tooth will be taken and utilized by a professional lab to generate your unique restoration. A temporary restoration will cover the treated tooth to uphold normal oral function and a lifelike appearance while your new dental crown is being made. You will come back for a follow-up visit within 10– 14 days to have the custom crown fitted and cemented in place. Your dental crown will be smoothed as needed to make sure it feels comfortable in your mouth. Our clinical staff will let you know how to clean your new crown and go over effective at-home oral care techniques.

Reasons for crowns:

  • Broken or fractured teeth.
  • Cosmetic enhancement.
  • Decayed teeth.
  • Fractured fillings.
  • Large fillings.
  • Tooth has a root canal.
